BLAKE LILES: WHAT’S IN YOUR KIT BAG
But how does Blake make sure he hits the target shot-after-shot? Let’s find out what equipment and accessories Blake Liles take to the range.
Ammunition
For Open Division events, Blake’s go to ammo is ELEY .38 super comp major. It’s USPSA certified and achieves Major Power Factor for IPSC/USPSA competitions. The round features a rimless case to eliminate feeding issues from double stack magazines and of course provides consistent accuracy that is expected from the ELEY brand.
Speaking of the ELEY ammo, he said: “The main reason I use ELEY ammunition is the guys I work with, they are fantastic. The ammo is awesome, really awesome, but it’s the folks we partner with that make this sport.”
Holster and belt
Blake uses the Safariland 015 race holster when competing in Open Division events. Its minimalist design features a steel ball joint system on the back that allows freedom of movement as well as accommodating additional modifications such as red dot sights, thumb rests, to your firearms without interference.
The variety of adjustments on the holster in terms of position, belt height and angle ensure maximum stability when drawing the firearm for a steady shot.
Blake also has a Double Alpha PDR for Carry and Double Alpha mag pouches. Easy mounting and awesome adjustability, the pouches allow for the magazines to be released smoothly yet are secure while in position.
The perfect fit for Double Alpha pouches and holsters, Blake also has the Double Alpha Academy belt. Designed for dynamic shooting sports, the belt offers extreme rigidity to provide a stable platform for holsters and pouches worn when competing.
Safety wear
For eye protection, Blake wears Roka’s tactical collection. Designed by athletes for athletes, the Roka eye wear stays put during strenuous activities and the coating material on the temple tips ensures that hats and ear protection doesn’t snag. The eye protection is Z87+ Ballistic Rated to protect you from ricochets and debris on the course of fire.
Apparel
From head to toe, Blake looks the part on the range. His jerseys are custom designed by US manufacturer Techwear. Using their patented fabric Techstatic, the jerseys are breathable and lightweight while being tough enough to endure the wear and tear of practical shooting.
He teams the jersey up with:
· Duluth shorts
· Salomon shoes
· Outdoor research hiking cap
If you want to hear more from Blake Liles, check out the Straight Shooting podcast (or watch it on YouTube) from our very own Dan Killough and Joseph Stoecker. Blake joined them to talk about the practical shooting discipline and share his advice on how to improve speed and accuracy when taking to the range.
